NOTICE: County easing financial burden in response to COVID-19

The County of Prince Edward is taking steps to ease the burden on residents and businesses financially impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The following initiatives will be in place until April 30, 2020, at which time they will be reevaluated: 

• No interest or penalties on any unpaid taxes or utility bills. 
• No tax arrears certificates registered on properties. 
• No water account disconnections 

The municipality’s actions are in line with other measures taken to support people under financial strain as a result of the COVID-19. The provincial government has confirmed no new eviction orders will be issued until further notice. Any scheduled enforcement of eviction orders have been postponed. The province has also extended the validity period of driving products, services, and health cards

The federal government has introduced a number of temporary income supports for workers and parents. The federal government has extended the income tax filing deadline to June 1. Learn more on the Government of Canada website
