NOTICE: Residents reminded to limit non-essential trips to landfill and transfer sites

The County is reminding residents to carefully consider the non-essential trips they are taking during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The municipality is urging residents to hold on to yard waste, brush, leaves, and other waste if possible until after emergency measures are lifted.

Residents should expect longer line-ups and wait times at the sites for the foreseeable future as the municipality implements new physical distancing measures. The municipality is limiting the number of people allowed into the site at one time. Residents should have waste and recycling separated and recycling properly sorted before arriving at a site.

To help alleviate pressure at the landfill and transfer sites, Ameliasburgh and Milford sites will also be open on Wednesdays from 8 am until 4 pm through the month of April, at which time the municipality will reassess and make a decision whether that will continue.

The County is also allowing residents to put out one untagged bag of garbage per week until June 1, 2020. Instead of taking recycling to bins placed at landfill sites, please take advantage of weekly curbside pick-up.

Up to date information on The County’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic is posted on The County website: www.thecounty.ca/county-residents/covid-19.
