Notice: Update on County boat launch and dock access

The County of Prince Edward has provided an update on access to The County`s boat launches and docks.

The following boat launches and docks are now open:

• Glendon Green Launch (off County Road 18)
• Prinyer`s Cove Launch (County Road 7)
• Big Island
• Wellington Beach Launch (Beach Street)
• Belleville Street Launch (Wellington)
• Northport Launch (Centennial Park, County Road 15)

The following launches are open, but the docks remained closed due to damage from prolonged high water levels:

• Rossmore Launch (Ridley Street)

The following launches and docks are open; however, high water levels hinder full access to the docks:

• Weller`s Bay Launch (Edward Drive)
• Mabel Kleinsteuber Launch (County Road 12)

Even though the boat launches are open, The County is urging boaters to proceed with extreme caution and good judgement. Floating and submerged debris could still pose a risk to boaters. Furthermore, rocks that would normally be visible could be just below the surface because of the high water levels.

The County also reminds boaters that high water levels are still impacting many residents. Boaters are asked to reduce their speed in order to minimize their wake and avoid causing further damage and erosion to shorelines.

The boat launch at Wellington Beach will be closed for the duration of the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival on Aug. 12. Boaters are asked to use the Belleville Street boat launch.
