NOTICE: Visits to resume at H.J. McFarland Memorial Home

Family members and friends will have the chance to visit in person with residents of H.J. McFarland Memorial Home beginning on June 18.

After the provincial government announced visits could resume, the municipality’s long-term care home put a plan in process to ensure visits can happen in a safe way:

• Visitors must maintain a physical distance of 2 metres/6 feet from their loved ones at all times. Direct physical contact such as hugging is not allowed at this time.
• Visitors must pass active screening every time they visit, confirming with staff that they have tested negative for COVID-19 within the previous two weeks. In addition, visitors will not be allowed to enter if they are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.
• Visitors must wear a mask at all times.
• Visits will take place outside on the patio. The visiting area will be cleaned and disinfected between every visit.

Families wishing to visit are asked to call the home at 613.476.2138 a minimum of 24 hours in advance and leave a message at extension 132 to request a visit. To allow for continued activity programing and meet staffing requirements, H.J. McFarland Memorial Home is offering the following visitation schedule:

• Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays: 9:30-11:30 am and 1-3 pm
• Mondays and Wednesdays: 6-7 pm

During the first phase of the resumption of visits, residents can welcome one visitor per week. This measure will allow H.J. McFarland Memorial Home to accommodate the highest number of visitor requests. Visits will last 30 minutes.

Family members of residents will receive an email with all of the details about visiting H.J. McFarland Memorial Home. If you haven’t received the email, please call 613.476.2138 extension 132.
