Contract Winter Road Patrol (Temporary, Full-Time, 3 Vacancies)
The Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the temporary full-time contract position of Winter Road Patrol. Reporting to the Roads Supervisor, the primary duties of the Winter Road Patrol will be to patrol the roads during the winter season, keep records, call in winter control response staff, and provide back-up for winter drivers as needed. These positions will be required for a minimum of four (4) months to a maximum of six (6) months during the winter season.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, as required
- Proven communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge and training under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Proof of valid ‘G’ Driver’s license and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract. ‘DZ’ Driver’s license would be considered an asset.
The following scheduled shifts are proposed:
SHIFT A
- Saturday 7:00am to 7:00pm
- Sunday 7:00am to 7:00pm
- Monday 7:00am to 3:30pm
- Tuesday 7:00am to 3:30pm
SHIFT B
- Saturday and Sunday 7:00pm to 7:00am
- Monday and Tuesday 11:00pm to 7:30am
- Tuesday and Wednesday 11:00pm to 7:30am
SHIFT C
- Sunday and Monday 7:00 pm to 7:00am
- Wednesday and Thursday 11:00 pm to 7:30 am
- Thursday and Friday 11:00 pm to 7:30 am
- Friday and Saturday 11:00 pm to 7:00am
The current hourly rate of pay for this position is $25.15 plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation pay as per Band 6 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement.
