Executive Assistant to the Director, Water and Waste Water Services (Full-time, temporary)

The Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Executive Assistant to the Director, Water and Waste Water Services.  The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing executive level confidential administrative support to the Director.  The activities associated with this position range from routine to complex in order to effectively support the Director with the operation of the Department.  This includes providing human resources, labour management, administration of procurement and budgeting support, as well as research and support related to Council reports. This position requires significant discretion and professionalism, and is privy to information which is highly sensitive and confidential in nature. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Completion of degree or diploma in Business Administration, Facilities Management or a related discipline, is required.
  • A minimum of (5) years of progressive administrative experience is required, preferably in a municipal environment, specifically with an emphasis on the ability to independently determine priorities and organize activities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to undertake a range of self-directed tasks, often requiring significant attention to detail and varying in complexity.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, demonstrating sound political acuity and the ability to resolve concerns or issues, both independently and in conjunction with the Director.
  • Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience with municipal services, programs, processes and initiatives, and relevant legislation, an asset.
  • Advanced skill level with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint), required.
  • Experience with other administrative software applications an asset, including online work management tools, financial software such as Questica and GIS mapping tools.
  • Valid “G” Class Ontario Driver’s license, with the use of a safe, reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.

The current salary range for this position is $70,700.68 to $95,853.87 as per the Non-Union By-Law. Compensation also includes a competitive benefit package and membership in OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan.
