Fleet Services Student (Youth Summer Position)

Are you interested in vehicle maintenance? Do you enjoy working with small engines? Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the summer position of Fleet Services Student within the Operational Services Department of Prince Edward County, a vibrant community with beautiful beaches, wide open landscapes and ample opportunities for outdoor fun, including artistic and cultural events, food, music and wineries/breweries.

The ideal candidate will have an interest and experience in automotive or small engine repairs, be enrolled in a post-secondary program and must be returning to school in the Fall.

Under the supervision of the senior fleet maintenance technician, this student will assist with daily shop maintenance duties including servicing and maintaining construction equipment, vehicles and machinery, cleaning and organizing the shop, fleet washing, picking up parts and other applicable duties as assigned.

General qualifications include:

  • Enrolment in a recognized post-secondary program and returning to school in the Fall.
  • Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment and/or independently, as required.
  • Training and experience in automotive and/or small engine mechanics considered an asset.
  • General mechanical ability and skill in making routine mechanical repairs to various parts of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine servicing including refuelling, lubricating, battery and tire repair.
  • Proof of a valid G2 or G Ontario driver’s licence.
