Labourer (Temporary, Full-time, 4 Months)
Do you enjoy working outside? Do you have experience operating different tools and equipment? Our Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the temporary full-time position of Labourer – Operations. Reporting to the Supervisor of Environmental Services and Sustainability, this position will work mainly at the Picton Marina and will perform duties including operating marine radios, slip reservations and scheduling, fuel handling, sewer discharge, anchorage fee collection, and building maintenance and sanitation. This position will also perform seasonal labourer duties assisting with the maintenance, repair and operation of various infrastructure, grounds maintenance and construction tasks.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Knowledge and training under the Occupational Health & Safety Act with completion of Traffic control and Fuel Handling.
- Proven ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment including tractors, sprayers, weed eaters, mowers and other related tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment at all times.
- Cash handling experience, including float management and balancing of funds.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as required; regular hours of work for this position will include weekends.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License required; “DZ” would be an asset.
The current rate of pay for this position is $26.45 per hour, plus 10% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation as per Band 4 of CUPE Local 2275’s Collective Agreement. Please submit your application prior to 4:00pm on June 20, 2025 to careers@pecounty.on.ca.
