About This Position:
The Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Supervisor, Recreation. Reporting to the Director, Recreation and Community Facilities, the Supervisor, Recreation supports the Director with overall planning, prioritizing and implementing of programs, special events and scheduling, as well as budgeting and asset management. The position will evaluate and monitor daily operations, provide effective care and maintenance of all facilities and exemplify strong communication skills in all areas.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Completed post-secondary education in recreation, facilities management, event management, construction/renovation and/or engineering, preferably with municipal parks, recreation, & leisure experience, with a minimum of five years’ work-related experience.
- Minimum three years’ experience supervising teams, with demonstrated ability to train and lead a team in daily facility operations, with a focus on customer service.
- Experience developing recreational programs or services and facility operations / maintenance, an asset.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the financial aspects of venue bookings and facility operation, an asset.
- Strong understanding, demonstrated competencies and technical knowledge in buildings; structural, mechanical, and janitorial maintenance.
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and any other associated legislations pertaining to facilities management.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and show tact and diplomacy when carrying out duties.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and to keep accurate, detailed records and produce written reports as required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other supervisors and departments.
- Proficient in computer use, including software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, GIS and other related software.
- Satisfactory Criminal Background Check.
- Valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License in good standing.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends for special events as required.
The current salary range for this position is $89,852.58 to $125,815.31 as per the Non-Union By-Law. Compensation also includes a competitive benefit package and membership in OMERS, a defined benefit pension plan.
