Hastings Prince Edward Public Health (HPEPH) instituted a boil water advisory for all customers connected to the Consecon/Carrying Place Drinking Water System, effective 5 am on Tuesday, July 18.
- Affected customers are advised to bring water to a rapid boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes (e.g. drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice). Click here for more information on how to boil your water.
- The Consecon/Carrying Place Drinking Water System receives water from the Trenton Drinking Water System (DWS). The boil water advisory has been implemented for a large portion of the Trenton DWS and Consecon/Carrying Place as a result of an emergency shutdown to repair a critical watermain break in the Trenton DWS. - For more information regarding the boil water advisory please contact the Hastings and Prince Public Health at 613.966.5500.
- The boil water advisory will remain in place until such time that bacteriological tests prove that water is within accepted quality and safety limits.
- Once the boil water advisory is lifted, communications will be shared through local media outlets, social media, and the County’s website. At that time, affected users are recommended to flush household plumbing through the cold water tap until water runs cold to the touch.
- All customers are asked to avoid any non-essential water use, including watering lawns and gardens until the boil water advisory is lifted.
- The coin-operated bulk water station will be closed until the boil water advisory is lifted. Customers can access bulk water from the Wellington and Picton bulk water hauling stations.
- The County is committed to providing a consistent supply of safe drinking water to all consumers of The County’s municipal drinking water systems.
