Community clean up continues with Quinte Trash Bash on May 14

The County of Prince Edward is joining municipalities across the region for the annual Quinte Trash Bash on Saturday, May 14.

“Earlier this spring, we saw an incredible outpouring of support for the clean-up day in honour of Owen Jones, a familiar figure in our community. As Owen taught us, beautifying our community can happen throughout the year,” Mayor Steve Ferguson says. “I encourage anyone who wants to continue pitching in to do so during Quinte Trash Bash. All of these efforts are greatly appreciated and go a long to creating a community we can all proudly call home.”

The annual Quinte Trash Bash is a community-wide spring cleanup in Belleville, Quinte West, the Township of Tyendinaga, and Prince Edward County. The program includes challenges for community members, as well as businesses and schools.

Residents who are interested in participating can pick up kits at 115 Lake Street in Picton.

Kits will include a coupon that will allow participants to take bags of waste to one of the following locations:

  • 37 Church Street, Picton
  • 35 County Road 14, Demorestville
  • 275 Consecon Street, Wellington

Waste collected as part of the trash bash will not be accepted at the landfill sites in Milford, Ameliasburgh, Hillier, or Hallowell. Waste will only be accepted in the bags provided.  Only one bag per coupon will be accepted.

Additional kits will be available at the participating transfer sites the day of the event.

More information and registration information can be found on the Quinte Trash Bash website https://quintetrashbash.ca/.
