Council Highlights – December 14, 2022 – Regular Session of Council

Presentations

Kim de Bruin, Chair of the Prince Edward County Women’s Institute, presents the municipality with a $3,000 donation for advancing accessible transportation. Read the media release to learn more.

 

CAO’s Quarterly Report

CAO Marcia Wallace provided Council with a quarterly report on the third quarter of 2022. Highlights of this report included public health related activities, service delivery updates, infrastructure investments, and an overall financial picture and forecast for the fourth quarter.

 

Cherry Valley Speed Hump Removal

The municipality is removing the speed humps in response to Councillor Sam Branderhorst’s motion approved by Council at the December 13 meeting. The motion acknowledged the concerns expressed by the public that evening as well as through a petition.

Once the advisory committees for the 2022 – 2026 term have been established at the December 20 special meeting of Council, the appropriate advisory committee, along with members of the OPP, will investigate a solution to traffic volumes and excessive speeding in Cherry Valley. A report will come back to Council in April 2023. Read

 

Other Business

Council approved the 2023 Fees & Charges By-law.

Council appointed Councillor Prinzen was appointed to the County’s Emergency Management Program Committee. Councillor Prinzen will act in the place of the Mayor for declaring an emergency when the Mayor is absent, refuses to act, of if the office is vacant.

Council approved reports and minutes from various committees and meetings.
