Motions from Closed Session
Council authorized the sale of municipal industrial park land located at Prince Edward McDonald Drive in Picton for $145,000 to Scott Wentworth Landscape Group Ltd.
Notices of Motion
Councillor Nieman is bringing forward a notice of motion to the July 25 meeting pertaining to the Taxi and Limousine By-law (By-law No. 63-2022) regarding past criminal code convictions for certain offences.
Councillor Hirsch presented a notice of motion on behalf of Councillor Roberts seeking Council support at the July 25 meeting for the County to advocate for a nutritional school program in the community. The motion will urge the federal government to expedite a national initiative.
Councillor Pennell is bringing forward a notice of motion to the July 25 meeting requesting a staff report on the total cost estimate for keeping the McFarland Home up to standards. He noted that the shingles of the roof need to be redone.
Mayor Ferguson is bringing a notice of motion to the July 25 meeting regarding property tax payers who do not qualify for the Financial Relief Funding in the County.
Announcements
Councillor MacNaughton announced that the Youth Pride event will be taking place on Wednesday, June 28 from 1 – 5 pm in Benson Park. Details about the event can be found online.
Councillors St. Jean, Engelsdorfer, Maynard and Branderhorst all spoke about the events happening throughout the community to celebrate Canada Day. Information about the various activities planned throughout the County for the Canada Day weekend can be found online.
Deputations and Presentations
Debbie Korzeniowski, Executive Director of Prince Edward Family Health Team & Hastings Prince Edward Ontario Heath Team Stewardship Group Member addressed Council regarding an overview of the Hastings Prince Edward Ontario Health Team. The presentation is available online.
The County’s CAO Marcia Wallace made a presentation to Council regarding Health PULSE (Partners United in Local Solutions for Everyone). The presentation is available online.
County Road 49 Rehabilitation
Council directed staff to allocate up to $1 million from tourism-related revenues towards the County Road 49 rehabilitation project for consideration in the proposed 2024 Capital Budget.
PEC Summer Pass Criteria
Council directed staff to expand the criteria of the PEC Summer Pass program to permit temporary migrant workers to have free access to the Wellington Rotary Beach as well as to have access to designated parking spaces at water access points at the end of Huyck’s Point Road and Bakker Road.
Other Business
Council awarded a tender for a Tandem Axle Truck to Premier Truck Group for $409,945.00 + tax.
Council awarded a tender for the West Mary Street Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction to Drew Harrison Haulage Ltd for $1,886,502.48 + tax.
Council approved minutes from various committee meetings.
