Municipal facilities and services will be impacted during the provincewide “emergency brake” shutdown, which was announced earlier today by the Government of Ontario.
Municipal Offices
Shire Hall, the Edward Building and the Picton Fire Station will be closed to the public during the provincewide shutdown.
Many County services can be accessed online at www.thecounty.ca or completed over the phone or by mail. If your matter is urgent and cannot be satisfied by any other means, please call 613.476.2148 and speak to a customer service representative about booking an in-person appointment. COVID-19 screening will take place for all in-person appointments.
Garbage bag tags can be purchased at a variety of locations across the County. The municipality reminds you to call ahead and check if the store has bag tags in stock. For retailers that require additional bag tags for resale, please call 613.476.2148 extension 1023 to arrange pickup.
Recreation Facilities, Arenas, Town Halls, Museums and Library Branches
All recreation facilities, arenas, town halls, and museums will also be closed during the provincewide shutdown.
All Prince Edward County Library branches will be closed during the shutdown. An exception will be made for access to the computers to conduct essential business such as reserving your COVID-19 vaccination appointment. The Library will offer curbside pickup. Please visit the Library website to learn more about curbside pickup.
Vaccine Clinic
The age-based vaccine clinic at the Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street) will continue during the shutdown. To find out if you are eligible and to book an appointment at the Picton clinic, please visit the Ontario vaccine online booking system (Ontario.ca/bookvaccine). You will require your health card number.
If you are unable to book online, please call the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1.888.999.6488. The line is available seven days a week between 8 am and 8 pm. Individuals who do not have a photo ID health card will be required to book by phone.
Seniors who require transportation to their vaccine appointment or other medical appointments can use the Prince Edward Community Care’s escorted transportation program. All COVID-19 safety protocols are in place for the safety of clients and volunteers. Call Community Care at 613.476.7493 to arrange transportation.
