The County of Prince Edward has installed new electric vehicle (EV) chargers at three sites in the municipality. The chargers are now operational.
The County installed the chargers through a grant received from the Charged for Change program delivered by Earth Day Canada, funded by Aviva Insurance.
The EV charges can be found in the following parking lots:
- Bloomfield Main Street Parking Lot (257 Bloomfield Main Street)
- Crystal Palace Parking Lot (375 Picton Main Street) just inside the Picton Fairgrounds.
- Wellington and District Community Centre Parking Lot (111 Belleville Street, Wellington) at the south side of the building
Work to improve the EV charging sites, including additional signage and seating areas, will continue in the coming months.
The municipal chargers are Level 2 chargers on the Flo network. Drivers are encouraged to download the Flo app and become a Flo member for an easy charging experience. Detailed instructions for using the chargers can be found on the Flo website. More information on the municipality’s EV charges can be found on the County’s website.
Drivers are advised of the rules for using the EV chargers and adjacent parking spaces:
- Only electric vehicles (EVs) can park in these spaces.
- Only vehicles actively charging are allowed in these spaces.
- Charging sessions are limited to 4 hours
Signs will be posted with these rules. The new Level 2 chargers are part of the municipality’s broader efforts to expand EV charging capacity across Prince Edward County. The municipality is currently exploring options to install multiple publicly accessible DC Fast (Level 3) chargers in the County.
