Emergency overnight accommodations available during extreme cold

December 17, 2021

The County has partnered with the local Salvation Army to offer emergency overnight accommodations during extreme cold conditions.

Emergency overnight accommodations will be available when Environment Canada forecasts a temperature of -15° C or colder, or a wind chill of -20° C or colder, for Prince Edward County. If people need shelter, they can call the Salvation Army at 613.476.3159 to arrange accommodations. The program is supported financially by the Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services.

The County will communicate the extreme cold weather alert to local media and share the notice through its mailing list, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The municipality’s emergency control group developed the extreme cold weather procedure based on community need and practices in similar-sized municipalities. For more information, contact the County of Prince Edward’s Customer Service Desk at 613.476.2148 extension 1023, 613.962.9108 extension 1023, info@pecounty.on.ca.
