February 1, 2023

February 1, 2023

Emergency accommodations are available overnight February 2-4, as Environment Canada is forecasting low temperatures below minus 20 C for Prince Edward County.

If you need a place to stay overnight, please call the local Salvation Army office at 613.476.3159 and a representative will help arrange accommodations.

The County has partnered with the local Salvation Army to offer emergency overnight accommodations during extreme cold conditions.

Emergency overnight accommodations will be available when Environment Canada forecasts a temperature of minus 15 C or colder, or a wind chill of minus 20 or colder, for Prince Edward County. The program is supported financially by the Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services.

The municipality’s emergency control group developed the extreme cold weather procedure based on community need and practices in similar-sized municipalities.
