The County has partnered with the local Salvation Army to offer emergency overnight accommodations during extreme cold conditions.
If people need a place to stay overnight, they can call the local Salvation Army office at 613.476.3159 and a representative will help arrange accommodations.
Emergency overnight accommodations will be available when Environment Canada forecasts a temperature of -15° C or colder, or a wind chill of -20° C or colder, for Prince Edward County. The program is supported financially by the Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services.
The municipality’s emergency control group developed the extreme cold weather procedure based on community need and practices in similar-sized municipalities.
