The full closure of the Picton Main Street and Bridge Street intersection (Picton Town Hill) has been extended until 7 am on Thursday, July 28.
One lane of traffic was expected to reopen by 7 am on Wednesday, July 27. However, a key piece of equipment for excavating, rock breaking, placement of pipe, and backfilling broke down, causing a delay in the work that has necessitated an extension of the full closure.
The full closure is required in order to safely replace a sanitary maintenance hole more than 5 metres deep. A detour route has been established as shown on the attached map and local traffic can access the downtown and Bridge Street through various side streets. This work is part of the project to reconstruct Picton Main Street from Bridge Street to Johnson Street.
