Five local governments are working together to show appreciation for frontline healthcare workers. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is vital to recognize the essential healthcare workers who are feeling the strain of long hours and staffing shortages.
The City of Belleville, the Municipality of Brighton, Hastings County, the City of Quinte West and the County of Prince Edward are encouraging residents to hang a heart in their front windows, doors or yards in support of all the local hard-working healthcare workers. A downloadable design is available online, or use your creativity to make something unique.
Participants are encouraged to take pictures of their decorated hearts and submit them to https://pollunit.com/polls/heartsforhealthcare where others can view and leave positive comments in the spirit of celebrating everyone in the healthcare field.
“Healthcare workers in our community have gone above and beyond the call of duty in the fight against COVID-19 over the past year,” says Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson. “It is important that we continue to recognize and express our appreciation for the sacrifices that doctors, nurses, long-term care staff, and other medical professionals have made during this incredibly trying time.”
“Words cannot describe our sincere appreciation and the respect we have for our essential healthcare workers,” says Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk. “Their commitment to helping keep our residents safe, in particular during this time, has taken a big toll on them and their families. We recognize this and sincerely thank you for your service in protecting our community.”
“Healthcare workers are on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19 and in Brighton we support our healthcare workers,” says Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander. “Long days and nights fighting to keep people well through a global pandemic, Brighton Council and our grateful community thank each and every person working to keep us healthy and safe this past year!”
“Throughout this crisis, we have been witness to the extraordinary efforts of our healthcare workers as they battled against COVID-19,” says Warden Rick Phillips, Hastings County. “Hastings County Council has marvelled at the strength, dedication and personal sacrifice people have shown daily. We owe them a debt that cannot be repaid and whether they work in our long-term care homes, paramedic services, hospitals, doctors’ offices or cared for us in our homes they deserve to be recognized for the true heroes they are,” stated Phillips.
“Quinte West is incredibly thankful for the work our frontline healthcare staff has been doing and continues to do,” says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “Now more than ever we continue to appreciate these shining stars on our frontlines who are doing an exceptional job keeping us healthy.”
