Do you have a vision or specific ideas about public art in Prince Edward County? Share them now and have an impact on how the County supports public art for many years to come.
County Council has directed staff to undertake extensive public consultation, led by the Prince Edward County Arts Council, to inform the public art planning process. Staff will return to Council in the latter part of 2024 with a draft public art plan for Council’s consideration.
Public art is created by artists or through artist-led projects and located in freely-accessible public sites. Installations and activations can be permanent or temporary, and range widely in scope and scale.
Residents can get involved through a variety of in-person and online engagements in the coming weeks. Public art walks will take place in Picton and Wellington on October 14 and October 21, respectively. These are opportunities for attendees to get out into the community and imagine the public art possibilities. Following the walk, there will be an informal question and engagement session.
County Arts representatives will also attend several community events throughout the fall to gather feedback and ideas from the public.
A Have Your Say page has been created for this consultation. A short survey is available on the site. You can enter a draw to win a $150 gift card to an eligible Fall 2023 Countylicious restaurant after you fill out the survey.
More information including the details about all of the upcoming in-person engagement opportunities are posted on the Have Your Say page.
