The County of Prince Edward is promoting its first-ever large-item swap on Saturday, April 29 to encourage people to re-use items instead of throwing them out.
Residents are encouraged to place their lightly used large items at the curb for other residents to take and continue to use. Large items could include furniture, electronics, tools, etc.
To reduce travel on rural roads, residents in rural areas can post their items and location on the Facebook event page for people to peruse. Those living in the settlement areas are also welcome to use the site.
Items must be removed the next day. The event will be weather dependent and will be cancelled in the event of rain.
If you have questions contact Albert Paschkowiak, Environmental Services and Sustainability Supervisor, at apaschkowiak@pecounty.on.ca or call 613.476.2148 extension 4004.
The large-item swap is part of a slate of activities to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day began in 1970 to raise awareness of environmental action. Today, countries around the world take part in events that showcase what organizations are doing to address various environmental issues. Visit the County website to learn more about the different events planned for Earth Day.
