Mayor Ferguson’s statement on tragedy in London, Ontario

June 9, 2021

Mayor Steve Ferguson has issued the following statement:

I am saddened and horrified by the act of Islamophobic violence that took place in London this week. The murder of the Afzaal family is a tragic and sobering reminder that hate exists in our communities. As I reflect on this tragedy, I am thinking of everyone in our community who is grieving and experiencing pain at this time, especially Muslim community members who may fear for their safety in the wake of this terrorist act. Islamophobia and hate of any kind have no place in our community and this country.
