Military training on Millennium Trail overnight on August 9

July 26, 2022

Military training will take place on the Millennium Trail on Tuesday, August 9, from 1 am until 11 am.

The training involves the movement of approximately 50 Pathfinder trainees, carrying their rucksack and rifle, along the western 20 kilometres of the Millennium Trail. The group will be escorted by two all-terrain vehicles and a side-by-side for use as patrol or in the event of an emergency. The Canadian Army Advanced Warfare Centre (CAAWC), CFB Trenton, will undertake the training.

The Millennium Trail Use By-law establishes the permitted hours of use of the trail as between 7 am and 11 pm. Council waived these provisions to allow the training to occur overnight. The training exercise will adhere to all other provisions in the by-law.

It is not expected that the training will generate much, if any, nuisance noise; however, as a cautionary measure, Council has waived the provisions of the Noise By-Law for the duration of the exercise.
