Municipal election nominations open May 2 – August 19  

April 13, 2022

The nomination period for County Council and school board trustee positions will open on Monday, May 2.

Nominations will be accepted by the Office of the Clerk, located at 246 Wellington Main Street in Wellington, between Monday, May 2, 2022 and Thursday, August 18, 2022 during regular working hours (8:30 am – 5 pm) and on Nomination Day, Friday, August 19, 2022, between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm.

Running for municipal office is a meaningful way to make a difference in the community. Nomination forms can be picked up at the Office of the Clerk or downloaded online. People who wish to be a candidate in the upcoming election cannot solicit or accept contributions for election purposes or incur campaign expenses until a nomination paper has been filed.

The next municipal election will be held on Monday, October 24 for the following offices:

County Council

Mayor: One to be elected

Ward 1 Picton: Two councillors to be elected

Ward 2 Bloomfield/Hallowell: Two councillors to be elected

Ward 3 Wellington: One councillor to be elected

Ward 4 Ameliasburgh: Three councillors to be elected

Ward 5 Athol: One councillor to be elected

Ward 6 Sophiasburgh: One councillor to be elected

Ward 7 Hillier: One councillor to be elected

Ward 8 North Marysburgh: One councillor to be elected

Ward 9 South Marysburgh: One councillor to be elected

Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board *

Wards 1, 2, 5, 8, and 9: One trustee to be elected

Wards 3, 4, 6, and 7: One trustee to be elected

* Note: Nominations will be received in the Office of the Clerk, County of Prince Edward County, 246 Wellington Main Street, Wellington

Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board **

One trustee elected to represent County of Prince Edward, Town of Greater Napanee, Loyalist Township, Township of Stone Mills, and Addington Highlands Township

** Note: Nominations will be received in the Office of the Clerk, Loyalist Township, 263 Main Street, Odessa, Ontario

Le Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (French language public school board)***

One trustee elected to represent all municipalities in the counties of Leeds and Grenville, Frontenac, Hastings, Prince Edward, and Lennox and Addington

*** Note: Nominations will be received in the Office of the Clerk, City of Kingston, City Hall, 216 Ontario Street, Kingston ON

Le Conseil des écoles catholiques de langue francaise du Centre-Est (French language separate school board) ****

One trustee elected to represent all municipalities in the counties of Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox & Addington, and Frontenac
