The County of Prince Edward is remembering former fire chief George Pettingill, who passed away on Tuesday, April 18.
Chief Pettingill began his career with the Hallowell/Bloomfield Township Fire Department on January 1, 1978. He served as the fire chief of the township and became the first fire chief of the amalgamated County of Prince Edward in 1999.
Flags on municipal properties will be lowered to half mast on Tuesday, April 18 in memory of Chief Pettingill.
A celebration of life for Chief Pettingill will take place on Sunday, April 30 from 2 – 4 pm at the Wellington and District Community Centre – Lehigh Arena (111 Belleville Street, Wellington).
