Significant weather event declaration remains in effect

December 28, 2022

The County of Prince Edward is extending the significant weather event declaration for at least another 24 hours. The declaration was made on December 23 when blizzard conditions hit the County.

  • The municipality continues to widen secondary roads to meet minimum standards.
  • A majority of sidewalks have been cleared. The municipality is working to clear the remaining secondary sidewalks.
  • Crews cleared snow along roadsides in Picton on December 27-28. Snow clearing will continue in Wellington and possibly Bloomfield in the evening of December 28-29.
  • During significant weather event declarations, residents are advised to use extra caution as the municipality may not be able to meet its maintenance standards for roads and sidewalks due to the heavy snowfall.
  • The safety of the public remains a priority for the municipality and every reasonable effort will always be made to meet the winter maintenance service levels.
  • The municipality will update the public when the significant weather event has ended.
  • To get updates from the County, sign up to receive email notices and follow the County on Facebook and Twitter.
