Seniors living in Prince Edward County can get support booking their COVID-19 vaccine appointment and travelling to the clinic in Picton.
Seniors can borrow tablets and use them to book a vaccine appointment online (Ontario.ca/bookvaccine) thanks to a partnership between Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association and the Prince Edward County Library. In addition to booking a vaccine appointment, seniors can use the tablets to access other online services and connect with friends and family.
Training and support for using the tablets is provided by library staff. For more information about the program or to borrow a tablet, call Prince Edward Community Care at 613.476.7493 or the Picton library branch at 613.476.5962.
Seniors who require transportation to their vaccine appointment or other medical appointments can use the Prince Edward Community Care’s escorted transportation program. The volunteer driver waits while the client is at the appointment. The fees are reduced or waived if necessary. All COVID-19 safety protocols are in place for the safety of clients and volunteers. Call Community Care at 613.476.7493 to arrange transportation.
