Tree giveaway for County residents May 4

May 2, 2024

The municipality is hosting a tree giveaway at three locations on Saturday, May 4.

  • A total of 2,000 trees will be available on Saturday, May 4 from 9 am to 12 pm at:
    • Prince Edward Community Centre in Picton (enter off Macsteven Drive due to construction)
    • Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street)
    • Roblin Lake in Ameliasburgh (13 Coleman Street)
  • Residents can collect up to 10 free saplings for planting on their property. Trees will be available on a first come first serve basis.
  • Residents are advised to bring a pail or bag to transport seedlings and keep the roots cool, dark, and moist. Trees should be planted as soon as possible.
  • Click here to view the 2024 Community Trees and Shrubs.
  • The giveaway is being offered in part to help offset the impact of the Emerald Ash borer (EAB). The invasive species is in the process of decimating the local population of Ash trees in Prince Edward County and across much of Ontario.

Visit the Sustainability Hub on the County website for more information about this and other community events. If you would like more information, contact Albert Paschkowiak, Environmental Services and Sustainability Supervisor, at apaschkowiak@pecounty.on.ca or call 613.476.2148 extension 4004.
