A revised detour route for the Picton Main Street reconstruction project will be in place from Wednesday, September 21 – Friday, September 23.
The route will involve the closure of the intersection of Picton Main Street and Paul Street and the detouring of northbound traffic between Paul Street and Johnson Street. View the updated detour map.
The detour is required to facilitate the final watermain connection from Picton Main Street to Paul Street on Wednesday September 21, the placement of granular base from Bridge Street to Paul Street on Thursday, September 22, and the placement of asphalt pavement on Friday, September 23.
Completing this portion of the project will allow the County to reopen two lanes of traffic on Picton Main Street from Bridge Street to Paul Street and northbound traffic from Paul Street to Johnson Street.
Local property access will be maintained during the detour.
The scope of the project includes the following work:
- Replacement of the existing sanitary sewer and services
- Replacement of the existing watermain and services
- Storm sewer replacement
- Complete road reconstruction with new curb and gutters, sidewalks, asphalt pavement, and decorative street lighting
RW Tomlinson Limited, the contractor for this project, is completing the work in phases to minimize the impact to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
