A revised detour route for the Picton Main Street reconstruction project will be in place from Monday, September 26 until Friday, October 7.
During this time period, the intersection of Picton Main Street and Johnson Street will be closed to traffic. Construction continues on Picton Main Street in and adjacent to this intersection.
Southbound traffic will detour around the closure using McFarland Drive, Macsteven Drive, Johnson Street, Queen Street, and Paul Street.
Northbound traffic will detour around the closure using Paul Street, Jane Street, Johnson Street, MacSteven Drive, and McFarland Drive.
Local property access along Picton Main Street between McFarland Drive and Johnson Street will be maintained during the detour.
At the conclusion of this closure, two lanes of traffic will be opened on Picton Main Street for the duration of the project.
The scope of the Picton Main Street reconstruction project includes the following work:
- Replacement of the existing sanitary sewer and services
- Replacement of the existing watermain and services
- Storm sewer replacement
- Complete road reconstruction with new curb and gutters, sidewalks, asphalt pavement, and decorative street lighting
RW Tomlinson Limited, the contractor for this project, is completing the work in phases to minimize the impact to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
