The Water and Wastewater Department will be conducting watermain repairs on West Street between Niles Street and Second Street in Wellington on Friday, April 26.
- Repairs will begin on April 26 at 9 am, with an expected completion time of 5 pm the same day.
- Traffic on West Street will be closed to through traffic between Second Street and Niles Street. A detour will be in place to direct local traffic around the construction area down Niles Street, Wharf Street, and Noxon Avenue as needed. Apartment buildings at the end of West Street will be accessible via Niles Street.
- Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the repair. Motorists are asked to avoid the construction area and follow all detour routes.
Red line indicates closure, green dotted line indicated detour routes.
- These repairs are not expected to impact water quality; however, nearby residences may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations and coloured water while construction is taking place. The water remains safe to drink throughout the duration of construction.
- If coloured water is experienced, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once repairs are complete and water service is restored.
