Earth Day Event- Owen Jones Memorial Clean Up

April 20

The annual Owen Jones Memorial Clean-up is scheduled for Saturday, April 20.

“Prince Edward County takes littering seriously because it has a detrimental effect on our environment and on our residents’ quality of life,” Mayor Steve Ferguson says. “In the spirit of combating littering we are once again participating in the Owen Jones Community Clean Up. To further spread the word in our community, we are also proud to sponsor an anti-littering sign design contest for local students. We look forward to recognizing the winning artists at the Council meeting on April 9.”

The County is partnering with community leaders to host the clean-up. This year the event will be held in support of the Quinte Trash Bash, which is a series of clean-ups taking place in neighbouring municipalities across the Quinte region.

Residents who are interested in participating alone or in a group in Prince Edward County can register by contacting Evan Nash at More information is available at the following link

Waste collected on the day of the clean-up can be dropped off at the following locations free of charge:

  • Picton Home Hardware (13544 Loyalist Parkway)
  • Midtown Brewery parking lot (266 Wellington Main Street)
  • 15 Coleman Street (Ameliasburgh), next to the works garage
  • 2179 County Road 17 (Milford)

The community clean-up is one of several events being held as part of the Earth Day celebrations this year. Staff and community partners have prepared a number of exciting events and activities throughout the days leading up to and surrounding Earth Day. Details will be posted on the County’s events calendar and the Sustainability Hub early next week.
