DESCRIPTION:The County of Prince Edward is partnering with community leaders to host a first ever fall version of the Owen Jones Memorial Fall Trash Bash on Saturday\, September 27. This event will be held in support of the Quinte Trash Bash\, which is a series of clean-ups taking place in neighbouring municipalities across the Quinte region. The event will also coincide with an annual Trash Bash hosted by the Sophiasburgh community at the Northport/Centennial Park. \nResidents who are interested in participating alone or in a group in Prince Edward County can register via this form. You can also register by contacting Evan Nash at evannash@gmail.com or calling Wellington Home Hardware at 613.399.3203. \nSupplies\, including gloves and bags\, are now available at 115 Lake Street in Picton\, Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street)\, and both the Wellington and Picton Home Hardware locations. SUMMARY:Earth Day Event: Pitch-In Picton
DESCRIPTION:Pitch-In Picton takes place on Thursday\, April 23 at 6 pm. Pitch-In Picton is a monthly\, one-hour mini trash bash meets nature walk and local history tour. From April to October\, Feral Folc and the Picton BIA are walking the streets of Picton in search of trash. Join the cleanup by meeting outside of the Picton Library (208 Picton Main Street). No registration is required. Garbage and recycling bags\, gloves\, hand-sanitizer\, bag tags\, and snacks are supplied by the Picton BIA.  \nThe walk will cover 1 – 2 km of distance\, mostly on sidewalks\, in alleys and parking lots but can sometimes include parks and other uneven surfaces. Options for those with reduced mobility are available. If you require support\, please email feralfolc@gmail.com before the event. Each participant will receive a local gift certificate! DESCRIPTION:The Owen Jones Memorial Community Cleanup in support of the Quinte Trash Bash returns on Saturday\, April 25. \nTrash bash supplies will be available for pick up at 115 Lake Street in Picton and at Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) in the days leading up to the event. DESCRIPTION:As part of Earth Day celebrations\, trees will be available at no cost for Prince Edward County residents on Saturday\, May 2 from 9 am to 12 pm at the following locations: \n\nPrince Edward Community Centre – Crystal Palace parking lot (375 Picton Main Street)\nWellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street)\nAmeliasburgh Town Hall (13 Coleman Street)\n\nResidents can collect up to 10 free saplings per household for planting on their property. Trees will be available on a first come\, first served basis and while supplies last. Varieties available will depend on the supplier. \nPlease note: this program is only available for residents of Prince Edward County. Please bring proof of residency. \n\nResidents are advised to bring a pail or bag to transport seedlings and keep the roots cool\, dark\, and moist. The invasive species is in the process of decimating the local population of Ash trees in Prince Edward County and across much of Ontario.
