SUMMARY:Picton Rain Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Visit up to three rain gardens in Picton and learn about the benefits of this unique garden design feature. \nA rain garden is a simple and attractive garden design feature that allows rainwater to slowly soak into the ground while filtering out contaminants and enhancing the biodiversity of our yards\, school grounds\, community centres\, and parking lots. Using soil and plants\, rain gardens celebrate rain as an essential element\, rather than directing it away into pipes and sewers. \nRain gardens offer a way for us all to play an active role in improving the aquatic health of our local creeks and waterways\, while also recharging PEC’s depleted aquifer. These special gardens help to reduce the increasingly common problems of flooding and drainage issues and lessens the volume of water that enters our local storm drain systems.

SUMMARY:The Drowning Girls - Live Theatre at Macaulay Church
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Shatterbox Theatre & The County Museums. Come see history brought to life on stage at Macaulay Heritage Church.\n\nBessie\, Alice\, and Margaret have two things in common: they are married to George Joseph Smith\, and they are dead. Surfacing from the bathtubs they were drowned in\, the three breathless brides gather evidence against their womanizing\, murderous husband by reliving the shocking events leading up to their deaths.\n\nReflecting on the misconceptions of love\, married life\, and the not-so-happily ever after\, The Drowning Girls is both a breathtaking fantasia and a social critique\, full of rich images\, a myriad of characters\, and lyrical language.\n\nBased on the true story of “The Brides in the Bath” Murders.

SUMMARY:Public Information Centre -- Wellington wastewater treatment plant improvements
DESCRIPTION:The PIC will focus specifically on the new equalization tank that will be constructed at the existing wastewater treatment plant in Wellington. \nCouncil awarded the design tender for the equalization tank to CIMA Canada Inc. in July 2021. Those designs will be presented at the PIC. The project is currently out to tender for construction services and is scheduled to close in late August. It is anticipated construction will begin in the fall of 2022. \nThe equalization tank was originally identified in the Wellington Master Servicing Plan as an interim solution to address capacity issues at the existing wastewater plant until a new plant can be constructed. \nThe County proposes constructing the equalization tank directly to the west of the existing Wellington wastewater treatment plant. The equalization tank will provide a buffer during peak flows or extreme wet weather events and help maximize use of the existing plant’s capacity. \nThe equalization tank will be permanent and incorporated into the proposed new Wellington wastewater treatment plant when the existing plant is replaced.
