SUMMARY:Public Virtual Workshop: Help shape the future of transit in Prince Edward County
DESCRIPTION:Photo by: Jacob Côté Photography \nPrince Edward County is refreshing its transit strategy\, and the public is invited to provide input. \nJoin staff of the municipality for an interactive\, online workshop on Thursday\, July 3 from 7 pm to 9 pm to explore ideas and possibilities for the future of County Transit. The workshop will be held on Microsoft Teams. Please register in advance for the meeting link by clicking here. \nThis is a chance for the public to help shape a system that works better for everyone who lives\, works and travels in Prince Edward County. \nDuring the session\, participants will learn about three potential transit scenarios developed by the transit experts at Left Turn Right Turn. These ideas are based on: \n\nA deep dive into our current transit system\nFeedback already received from nearly 200 residents and local businesses through surveys\, focus groups and interviews\nTransit lessons learned in other rural communities like ours.\n\nFeedback received during this session will help guide the next phase of strategy development. This project will result in recommendations for a transit plan that will be presented to Council this fall\, with implementation planned for 2026. \nIf you are unable to join on July 3\, please contact Vincent de Tourdonnet\, Transit Coordinator\, for information on how to get involved (vdetourdonnet@pecounty.on.ca / 343.645.2542). You can also save the date for the next public engagement event scheduled for the evening of August 18\, in person in Picton. \nClick here to learn more about County Transit and the Transit Strategy Refresh.

SUMMARY:Public Meeting: Wilkinson Memorial Park
DESCRIPTION:The County of Prince Edward is hosting the third meeting for a pathway plan and park design at Wilkinson Memorial Park on Thursday\, August 14. \nThe meeting will take place from 9 am – 10 am at the North Marysburgh Town Hall (2699 County Road 8\, Waupoos). \nThe municipality is working with VTLA Studio to develop a plan to improve the park. The public is welcome to attend the meeting to review the presentation by VTLA and share their feedback. \nThe Wilkinson Memorial Park pathway plan and park design is 1 of 10 parkland projects across Prince Edward County that are being supported by funds from the Parkland Reserve. Provincial legislation requires municipalities to spend a certain portion of funds in their Parkland Reserve. The funds in this reserve come from developers who provide cash instead of dedicating parkland to the municipality. Municipalities are required to spend those funds in the same geographic area as the development. \nAn initial consultation for Wilkinson Memorial Park identified the desire for an outdoor rink at the park. However\, given the challenges of making ice during recent unpredictable winters\, Council directed staff during the 2025 deliberations to use the $80\,000 for park improvements instead. \nThe Wilkinson Memorial Park currently has a tennis and pickleball court with basketball hoops. There is a playground and band shelter. The park also has an old baseball diamond and a large green space with new trees that were planted a year ago. Also on the property is a canteen and shaded picnic area. \nFor more information\, contact the County of Prince Edward at 613.476.2148 ext. 1023\, 613.962.9108 ext. 1023\, or email info@pecounty.on.ca

SUMMARY:Public Meeting: Wilkinson Memorial Park
DESCRIPTION:The County of Prince Edward is hosting the fourth and final meeting for a pathway plan and park design at Wilkinson Memorial Park on Thursday\, September 4. \nThe meeting will take place from 9 am – 10 am at the North Marysburgh Town Hall (2699 County Road 8\, Waupoos). \nThe municipality is working with VTLA Studio to develop a plan to improve the park. The public is welcome to attend the meeting\, review the presentation by VTLA\, and share their feedback. \nThe Wilkinson Memorial Park pathway plan and park design is 1 of 10 parkland projects across Prince Edward County supported by funds from the Parkland Reserve.

SUMMARY:Public Open House: Cultural Heritage Master Plan
DESCRIPTION:An in-person public open house for the Cultural Heritage Master Plan (CHMP) will take place on Monday\, October 6. \nThe meeting will be held from 5 – 7 pm at the Rotary Hall inside the Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street). \nAt the meeting\, staff and the project consultant\, WSP\, will present the latest draft of the CHMP. Attendees can learn more about the plan and ask questions to the project team. \nThe County of Prince Edward is developing the plan to manage and protect its built heritage resources and cultural heritage landscapes. \nA built heritage resource is a building\, structure\, monument\, installation\, or any manufactured remnant that contributes to a property’s cultural heritage value or interest. \nA cultural heritage landscape is a defined geographical area that may have been modified by human activity and include features such as structures\, spaces\, archaeological sites\, or natural elements that are valued together for their interrelationship\, meaning\, or association. \nProtecting and enhancing Prince Edward County’s cultural\, heritage and natural assets for the future is a key objective within the municipality’s Strategic Plan 2023-2026. In addition\, the municipality’s Official Plan states that the municipality will identify cultural heritage resources while ensuring their conservation\, restoration\, maintenance\, and enhancement as part of the community’s ongoing evolution. \nCouncil directed staff\, when it adopted the Official Plan in 2021\, to prepare a Cultural Heritage Master Plan to help guide staff and the development community in this area. \nAs the project progresses\, additional in-person meetings will occur. You can receive project updates by subscribing on the Have Your Say page. Additional information is posted on the Have Your Say page. \nIf you have questions\, please contact Scott Pordham\, Policy Coordinator\, Development Services\, at 613.476.2148 extension 2024 or spordham@pecounty.on.ca.
