SUMMARY:Earth Day Event: Repair Café
DESCRIPTION:Help prevent common household items from ending up in the trash by bringing them to the Repair Café! It’s an opportunity to have your item(s)* repaired for free by community volunteers who believe in a shared responsibility of care and maintenance for the items we own and use.\n\nMeet skilled community members who will help you diagnose your repair and take the necessary steps to complete it with you. We are focusing on offering repairs for items in these categories:\n fabrics/clothing electronics household items small appliances small furniture\n\nRepair Cafés happen all over the world – learn more about the initiative here: https://www.repaircafe.org/en/\n\n*In order to best share resources among all visitors to the Repair Cafe\, please be mindful to bring 1-3(ish) items for repair.\n**Although many common repairs are possible to achieve at the Repair Café not all items will be able to be fully fixed as it depends on the skills\, materials\, and time available for each unique repair.\n\nBring your item(s) for repair with all their broken parts/pieces and clean if possible. If you have the materials you believe you need to fix or replace the issue\, but don’t have the skills to do so\, please bring them also. We will have some spare parts and general fixing materials on-hand.\n\nThe Repair Café is free to attend. We encourage those who can to bring a donation to the Food Bank – either in cash or non-perishable food items – in exchange for support at the Repair Café. A donation jar and box will be on-site.\n\nGot too many hammers\, or other spare tools and repair-esk resources and want to share? Bring them to donate to our Tool Swap table.\n\nThe Repair Café will be set up in the basement/flex space at the Picton Public Library. The space is accessible from the side door of the library\, then by taking the stairs or elevator down one level. Someone will greet you downstairs and provide information about registration and all the options for repair support!\n\nAnyone is welcome to drop-in during open hours with an item for repair and/or drop-off surplus tools they would like to donate to the swap table and/or enjoy a complimentary drink and snack and/or just check out what’s happening and possibly lend your repair skills.\n\n\nIf you have a question about the Repair Café or want to help out as a Volunteer\, you can email Becky at feralfolc@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Open House: Delhi Park Community Connections Plan and special transit initiatives
DESCRIPTION:The County of Prince Edward is holding an open house focused on pedestrian and cyclist connectivity and public transit initiatives on Wednesday\, May 8 from 6-8 pm at the Picton Town Hall (2 Ross Street\, Picton). \nThis event will be the second public consultation session for the Delhi Park Community Connections Plan. Preliminary designs will be available for review and comment\, and the design team from Victoria Taylor Landscape Architects will be on site to discuss the design and answer questions. \nUnofficial and unmaintained pathways through Delhi Park in Picton have been used informally for many years. In the interest of public safety and well-being\, the municipality is looking to formalize these routes to create a network of integrated\, safe and accessible pathways to improve pedestrian and cyclist connectivity. \nFunding for the preliminary design phase was provided by Infrastructure Canada’s Active Transportation Fund. \nFor more information on the project\, click here. For questions or to provide comments\, please contact Ashley Stewart\, Community Services and Programs Coordinator by email at astewart@pecounty.on.ca \nThis event will also feature information about a number of special initiatives planned for County Transit in 2024. The public is invited to learn more about what the current County Transit system does\, upcoming enhancements to the system\, and next steps in planning for the future of transit in Prince Edward County. \nCounty Transit is the municipal public transit service\, launched in 2020 with funding provided through the Provincial Community Transportation Fund. County Transit currently offers a fixed route that runs between Picton\, Bloomfield and Belleville four times per day\, five days per week\, a flexible route to serve the western County\, and scheduled on-demand services to help residents connect to the fixed route. \nFor more information about County Transit\, click here or contact Vincent de Tourdonnet\, Transit Coordinator by email at vdetourdonnet@pecounty.on.ca.
