They moved to Alderville First Nation in Alnwick Township (south shore of Rice Lake) in 1837. Brian Beaver will talk about the history of the Mississauga people and his book Alderville First Nation…A History. \nBrian graduated from Fleming College in Peterborough. He retired from the federal Public Service in Ottawa after 35 years of service (Canadian Human Rights Commission). DESCRIPTION:All residents are invited to dispose of their household hazardous and electronic waste free of charge at several mobile events located within Prince Edward County. \n\nThe mobile events hosted by Quinte Waste Solutions will take place at the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) from 9 am – 2 pm on the following dates:\n\nSaturday\, May 11\nSaturday\, July 13\nSaturday\, August 10\nSaturday\, October 19\n\n\nHousehold hazardous and electronic waste can be found in almost every room of your home. These products\, if thrown in the garbage or poured down the drain\, can have negative effects on the environment including an impact on groundwater and surface water such as creeks\, rivers\, and lakes.\nClick here to view the schedule and see a full list of items that are accepted at mobile events.\nPlease note that motor oil and scrap metal are not accepted. Motor oil must be dropped at the hazardous waste depot in Belleville. Operating hours are available on the Quinte Waste Solutions website.

SUMMARY:Public Consultation Centre: Transportation Master Plan
DESCRIPTION:A third and final public consultation centre (PCC) for the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) amendment for Picton will take place on Tuesday\, July 16. \nThe PCC will be held at the Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street). The PCC will take place from 6-8 pm and follow a drop-in format. \nAt the PCC\, the study team will provide a summary of the feedback received to date. The team will also present and gather feedback on the evaluation of alternative solutions\, recommended solutions\, and next steps in the study process. Members of the study team will be present to answer any questions. \nThe County of Prince Edward completed a County-wide TMP in 2021. The municipality is undertaking an amendment of the TMP for the Picton Settlement Area. The amendment is now required due to a higher level of growth projected within the study area\, beyond what was assumed as part of the 2021 TMP. \nThe TMP will assess the short- and long-term transportation infrastructure needs and deficiencies within Picton. The plan will identify improvements to the multi-modal transportation network in order to address existing and future travel demands. \nPublic consultation is an important part of the TMP. The first PCC was held on December 12\, 2023 and introduced the study. DESCRIPTION:All residents are invited to dispose of their household hazardous and electronic waste free of charge at several mobile events located within Prince Edward County. \n\nThe mobile events hosted by Quinte Waste Solutions will take place at the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) from 9 am – 2 pm on the following dates:\n\nSaturday\, May 11\nSaturday\, July 13\nSaturday\, August 10\nSaturday\, October 19\n\n\nHousehold hazardous and electronic waste can be found in almost every room of your home. These products\, if thrown in the garbage or poured down the drain\, can have negative effects on the environment including an impact on groundwater and surface water such as creeks\, rivers\, and lakes.\nClick here to view the schedule and see a full list of items that are accepted at mobile events.\nPlease note that motor oil and scrap metal are not accepted. Motor oil must be dropped at the hazardous waste depot in Belleville. Operating hours are available on the Quinte Waste Solutions website.
