DESCRIPTION:The Canada Day Parade on Wellington Main Street begins at 10:30 am with the route starting at the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) and finishing at Consecon Street. \nParade participants are needed! If you are interested in participating in the parade please contact Brenda Little at brenda.little20@gmail.com. \nThere will also be entertainment in the park starting around 11:30 am featuring the County Ukulele Band\, the Acapella Quinte Barbershop Group and more! \nThe Wellington Rotary Club will host a rib dinner in the park\, and St. Andrew’s Anglican Church will have a lawn sale and lunch on its lawn. \nThe Wellington United Church (243 Wellington Main Street Wellington) will have its annual Strawberry Social from 9:30 am until they sell out. Hosted this year in collaboration with the Wellington Community Market\, the event will take place in the Wellington United Church parking lot. Cost is $8 per person or $5 for ages 10 and under. Come early! SUMMARY:Affordable Housing Information Session for Seniors
DESCRIPTION:The Prince Edward County Affordable Housing Corporation (PECAHC) has opened applications for housing in Wellington and Picton. \nPECAHC is developing two properties\, which will provide 52 units of affordable housing for occupancy by 2024. \nIn Wellington\, PECAHC is constructing a 36-unit multi-residential building on the site of the former Wellington Arena (230 Niles Street. The development will include a mix of of one-\, two- and three-bedroom units\, as well as four townhomes with three bedrooms each. \nIn Picton\, PECAHC is erecting a 12-unit multi-residential modular building on Disraeli Street. The building will include six bachelor and six one-bedroom unit. Rents will range from $620 for a bachelor unit to $1\,200 for a three-bedroom unit. \nPECAHC invites County residents to apply for these units. Three criteria will be used to review applications: \n\nHousing status: Whether the applicant currently has housing\, how affordable the housing is\, and if the housing is permanent or temporary.\nIncome: Must match the income ranges for the particular unit requested\, as set by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).\nResidency: The application is open to County residents\, as well as applicants who previously resided in the County and still work in the County. The application is also open to people who want to relocate to the County to care for a current County resident who needs assistance living at home.\n\nPECAHC will offer a public information session specifically for assisting seniors with their applications. The info session will be held at Picton Town Hall\, 2 Ross Street\, on Thursday\, July 20 at 1 pm. \nThe application is available online. Click here to access.
