West Mary Street Sanitary Sewer Reconstruction
Overview:
The County of Prince Edward is performing sanitary sewer reconstruction on West Mary Street beginning in August 2023. The work is expected to be completed by June 2024.
The project will include:
- Reconstruction of the existing sanitary sewer on West Mary Street with a larger sized sewer to accommodate future development and expansion within the west Picton built boundary.

Project Status:
Phase 1
Phase 1 work will begin August 1, 2023 and continue until mid-November.
Project Details:
Drew Harrison Haulage, the contractor for this project, will complete the work in 2 phases.
Prior to commencement of construction, a pre-construction property inspection of all abutting residences and businesses will be undertaken. This work will be completed by a third-party independent company that will require access to premises, both interior and exterior. Further notification will be provided directly by the offices of the inspection company in advance of their works.
The areas that are under reconstruction during the phases of this project will be closed to through traffic. Local traffic and pedestrian traffic will still be allowed.
Phase 1: Work will begin August 1, 2023 and will be completed in 3 stages to minimize disruptions to residents and traffic movements.
- Stage 1 includes work on Ontario Street from Rotary Park entrance to West Mary Street. View the detour route map for Stage 1.
- Stage 2 includes work on West Mary Street from Ontario Street to Spring Street.
- Stage 3 includes work on West Mary Street from Spring Street to Lake Street.
Phase 1 work is scheduled for completion in mid-November 2023. Rotary Park will be open to the public during Phase 1.
Phase 2: Work will take place from the Rotary Park entrance at Ferguson Street through the park to Ontario Street.
Phase 2 work is scheduled to begin October 12, 2023, and be completed in June 2024.
Detours will be used where road closures are necessary. Advance notice will be provided when temporary disruptions to sewer and water service is required.
