Official Plan Amendment 01-23 / Draft By-law

Council for the County of Prince Edward will consider a by-law to adopt an amendment to the Official Plan at the Planning and Development Committee meeting on Wednesday, June 21.
The purpose of Amendment No. 2 is to:
- Make various amendments to the Official Plan that address changes made to the Planning Act
- Make general amendments to update the Official Plan
The effect of the amendments will be to:
- Permit additional dwelling units in accordance with the Planning Act
- Update policies related to the use of site plan control as per the Planning Act
- Update policies related to the requirements for parkland dedication as per the Planning Act
- Include policies requiring pre-consultation in accordance with the Planning Act
- Require compliance with the municipality’s Pre-consultation and Complete Application By-law
- Allow more consents in settlement areas
- Require hydrogeological studies for all severances as well as additional dwelling units where development is proposed on one or more private services
- Permit bunk houses for the workers of tourist commercial uses
- Include policies related to energy storage system facilities
- Update population projections based on the municipality’s Development Charges By-law Background Study 2023
- Require new development in settlement areas to follow the municipality’s Tree Management and Preservation Policy
- Amend the wording of various policy sections to ensure they are up to date or provide clarity
