DESCRIPTION:Visit up to three rain gardens in Picton and learn about the benefits of this unique garden design feature. \nA rain garden is a simple and attractive garden design feature that allows rainwater to slowly soak into the ground while filtering out contaminants and enhancing the biodiversity of our yards\, school grounds\, community centres\, and parking lots. Using soil and plants\, rain gardens celebrate rain as an essential element\, rather than directing it away into pipes and sewers. \nRain gardens offer a way for us all to play an active role in improving the aquatic health of our local creeks and waterways\, while also recharging PEC’s depleted aquifer. These special gardens help to reduce the increasingly common problems of flooding and drainage issues and lessens the volume of water that enters our local storm drain systems.
