DESCRIPTION:The Prince Edward County Affordable Housing Corporation (PECAHC) has opened applications for housing in Wellington and Picton. \nPECAHC is developing two properties\, which will provide 52 units of affordable housing for occupancy by 2024. \nIn Wellington\, PECAHC is constructing a 36-unit multi-residential building on the site of the former Wellington Arena (230 Niles Street. The development will include a mix of of one-\, two- and three-bedroom units\, as well as four townhomes with three bedrooms each. \nIn Picton\, PECAHC is erecting a 12-unit multi-residential modular building on Disraeli Street. The building will include six bachelor and six one-bedroom unit. Rents will range from $620 for a bachelor unit to $1\,200 for a three-bedroom unit. \nPECAHC invites County residents to apply for these units. Three criteria will be used to review applications: \n\nHousing status: Whether the applicant currently has housing\, how affordable the housing is\, and if the housing is permanent or temporary.\nIncome: Must match the income ranges for the particular unit requested\, as set by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).\nResidency: The application is open to County residents\, as well as applicants who previously resided in the County and still work in the County. The application is also open to people who want to relocate to the County to care for a current County resident who needs assistance living at home.\n\nPECAHC will offer a public information session specifically for assisting seniors with their applications. The info session will be held at Picton Town Hall\, 2 Ross Street\, on Thursday\, July 20 at 1 pm. \nThe application is available online. Click here to access.
