Canine Control
In addition to administering the Canine Control By‐law and the Dog Owners Liability Act, the County of Prince Edward Canine Control Department oversees the administration of:
Dog Tags
All dogs in Prince Edward County must be licenced and licences must be renewed by March 31 each year. Licences cost $30 per dog ($20 if the dog is spayed or neutered), and help return lost pets to their owners. You can purchase a new licence for your pet in three ways:
Online
Complete the online form and submit payment online, here.
By Mail
Send your completed Dog Tag Application Form and a cheque payable to “The County of Prince Edward”, by mail to: 332 Main Street, Picton ON, KOK 2T0″.
In Person
Visit any public library branch, Edward Building, Suite 103, (280 Picton Main St), or the PEC Fire Department Administrative Offices.
Kennel Licence
A Kennel Licence is required for households with more than three dogs. Kennel Licences are issued by Prince Edward County By‐law Enforcement. To book an appointment to obtain a Kennel Licence or for more information, contact Canine Control at 613.476.7666.
Sporting Dog Licence
A Sporting Dog Licence is available in some areas of Prince Edward County for households with up to a maximum of ten dogs. Sporting Dog Licences are issued through By‐law Enforcement.
