Liquor Licence

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for administering the Liquor Licence Act and specific sections of the Liquor Control Act, which together with the regulations made under them establish the licensing and regulatory regime for most aspects relating to the sale and service of alcohol in Ontario.

As part of the liquor sales licence approval process, the AGCO requires the Municipal Information Form to be signed by the Clerk and municipal approval letters from Building, Fire Services, and Public Health.

The Clerk’s Office is your first point of contact for this service.

Application Process

  1. Documentation is submitted to the Clerk’s Office, please provide the completed Municipal Information Form with only the top portion completed;
  2. Submit Drawings of the proposed licences premises.  They can be hand drawn, but must show: Where alcohol will be served or consumed – include dimensions of the serving area
  3. The Clerk’s Office will circulate your application and additional documentation to the Planning Department for confirmation of compliance with the County’s Zoning By-Law.
  4. Once Zoning confirmation is obtained the applicant will be notified.
  5. The application will then be circulated to the Fire Department and Building Department for review. The applicant may have to arrange a site-visit at a convenient time for all parties.
  6. Once inspections have been completed, and approval is given from all departments, the Clerk’s Office will provide the applicant with the signed Municipal Information Form and the agency letters of approvals from the Building Department and Fire Department. We will arrange a time for you to pick up the forms and complete the payment.
  7. Please note that applicants must contact Hastings Prince Edward Public Health separately.
