As part of the recently approved Adopt-A-Tree program, the municipality is giving away saplings to homeowners to improve tree cover throughout the County. Home owners who have experienced tree loss due to the emerald ash borer are particularly encouraged to participate.
Trees will be made available on a first come first serve basis. There will be a 2 tree per household limit.
Tree species include: White Pine, Red Pine, White Spruce, White Cedar, Red Oak, White Oak, Sugar Maple, and Black Cherry.
Residents will be required to provide their name, address, and contact information to participate in the program. Residents are asked to monitor and maintain the tree and provide updates to Prince Edward County staff if the health of the trees deteriorates.
