Youth Perspectives on Environmental Outreach (June 2022)
Vanessa Lavender, the youth representative on the Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC), made a presentation to Council on June 21, 2022.
In the presentation, Vanessa provided an overview of youth perspectives on the outreach activities of the EAC. She presented the findings of a survey that identified environmental concerns of youth in Prince Edward County and possible solutions.
Shoreline Management Plan (June 2022)
Quinte Conservation presented the Shoreline Management Plan to Council on June 7, 2022. The County joined with Quinte Conservation and regional partners to develop the plan. The Plan will help Quinte Conservation and municipalities manage the natural hazards along the Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario shoreline.
The final plan includes: an up-to-date inventory of the shoreline; Updated natural hazard mapping for flooding, erosion, and dynamic beaches; Recommendations for protecting the shoreline and residents who live along it; and, information to inform municipal planning recommendations and decisions.
Emerald Ash Borer (July 2021)
Watch a presentation made by Jennifer Gagne to Committee of the Whole about the Emerald Ash Borer. The presentation, made in June 2021, describes the devastating effect on ash trees in The County. What can we do to protect trees from this invasive species?
EAC Chair’s Report to Council (April 2022)

The purpose of the report is to provide Council with an update on the performance of The County's waste management system in 2021. The report also evaluates the current organics program, provides results of a public consultation and presents options to address the rising cost of the program. An update regarding the implementation of the Tree Preservation and Management Policy. An Adopt-a-Tree program is also proposed. See agenda item 6.3.
