SUMMARY:Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Survey- Agricultural Sector: Focus Group- Food / Farmer’s Market Farmers
DESCRIPTION:The County of Prince Edward has launched a Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) survey focused on the agricultural sector\, and local farmers are encouraged to participate. \nThe survey was designed with input from farmers across the municipality\, including the chair of the Agricultural Advisory Committee\, commodity producers\, dairy farmers\, equine operations\, food growers\, wine industry representatives\, and the regional representative of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. \nWhy participate? \nThe BR+E survey\, which takes about 10 minutes to complete\, is a key tool for understanding the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture in Prince Edward County. Feedback will help the municipality better understand how municipal programs and policies are impacting local farms\, and where we could provide better supports that strengthen farm businesses and the rural economy. \nIn addition to the survey\, farmers are invited to join sector-specific focus groups to share insights and ideas: \n\nFood / Farmer’s Market Farmers\nFebruary 10 | Picton Town Hall | 1:30 pm – 3 pm\nGrape & Apple Growers\nFebruary 11 | Hillier Town Hall | 10 am – 11:30 am\nOn-Farm Diversified Uses\nFebruary 17 | Bloomfield Town Hall | 1 pm – 2:30 pm\nThe Future of the Family Farm\nFebruary 25 | Rotary Hall\, Picton | 11 am – 2 pm (includes lunch)\n\nHow to complete the survey:\nVisit surveymonkey.com/r/Ag_BRE to share your input today. \nYour voice matters! Help us build a stronger agricultural economy for Prince Edward County. \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact Economic Development Officer Karen Palmer at kpalmer@pecounty.on.ca or kpalmer@pecounty.on.ca.

SUMMARY:Public Consultation: Marsh and Macaulay Creek Flood Hazard Mapping
DESCRIPTION:Quinte Conservation will be hosting a public consultation on Thursday\, December 11 regarding updated floodplain mapping for areas along Marsh and Macaulay Creek. \nResidents are invited to learn about the study\, speak with Quinte Conservation staff and provide feedback. \n\nThe study aims to manage flood risk and ensure sustainable development practices. The last floodplain mapping for Marsh Creek was developed in 1981 and is being updated to reflect changes in land use and climate data.\nNatural hazard maps are important tools used by municipal governments\, Conservation Authorities\, and planning agencies to guide development\, zoning\, and emergency preparedness.\nThese maps are used when reviewing development applications to assess natural hazards such as flooding\, which can pose risks to both people and property.\nUsing advanced floodplain mapping tools such as topography\, bathymetry\, water resource modeling\, and field surveys\, the study aims to accurately indicate flood-prone areas and provide a clearer understanding of flooding hazards during various storm events. This mapping will help to better inform future development decisions\, land use planning\, and flood mitigation strategies in the region.
