SUMMARY:Public Meeting: Roblin Lake Park Improvements
DESCRIPTION:The County of Prince Edward is hosting a kick-off meeting for the park improvements at Roblin Lake Park (38 Coleman Street) on Monday\, July 21. \nThe meeting will begin at 6:30 pm at the park between the ball diamond and the playground. \nThe municipality is developing a plan to make improvements to the park. The public is welcome to attend the kick-off meeting to learn more and share their feedback. \nThe Roblin Lake Park design is 1 of 10 parkland projects across Prince Edward County that are being supported by funds from the Parkland Reserve. Provincial legislation requires municipalities to spend a certain portion of funds in their Parkland Reserve. The funds in this reserve come from developers who provide cash instead of dedicating parkland to the municipality. Municipalities are required to spend those funds in the same geographic area as the development. \nRoblin Lake Park currently has playground equipment\, a small beach for swimming\, green space\, a baseball diamond equipped with lights\, a basketball/multi-use court and picnic tables. DESCRIPTION:Public Meetings Scheduled for Ameliasburgh Ward! \nWhat are Parkland Projects/Funds? \nRecently\, the province requested that municipalities use funds sitting in Parkland Reserves. This fund consists of payments made to a municipality by developers on a cash-in-lieu basis to fulfill requirements for dedicating land for public parks or open spaces. In some cases\, developers may find it difficult to dedicate land due to site constraints\, land availability\, or project requirements. In these cases\, developers may request to contribute cash to the municipality as an alternative. \nBy using these funds strategically\, municipalities can enhance recreational opportunities\, improve quality of life for residents or promote environmental conservation. \nHow much money is available and why is it directed at specific parks? \nParkland reserves are tied to the geography of the project. In this instance\, development projects within Consecon\, Carrying Place and Ameliasburgh contributed to the Parkland Reserve fund. Funds have been allocated as follows:\n-Roblin Lake Park $90\,000\n-Westfall Park $80\,000\n-Consecon Park $40\,000 \nHow can the funds be used? \nParkland funds are used to add new amenities to make parklands welcoming\, inclusive and accessible to all. It is important to note that the improvements are not for general upgrades and renovations\, but are focused on adding new amenities to parks and\ngreenspaces to increase the value to the greater community. \nWhen are the public meetings scheduled? \n-Monday July 15\, 6:00p-8:00p at Roblin Lake Park\n-Monday July 22\, 6:00p-8:00p at Westfall Park\n-Monday July 29\, 6:00p-8:00p at Consecon Park \nWhat if I’m unable to attend a public meeting? \nThe public is encouraged to contribute ideas and suggestions via the County’s online public engagement site at https://haveyoursay.thecounty.ca/ or by attending one of the scheduled public meetings.
