SAVE THE DATE: Your Seat at the Horseshoe: A Practical Guide to Running for Municipal Council Workshop

Are you thinking of running for Council in the upcoming 2026 Municipal Election? Do you want to know what it takes? The Clerk’s Office will hold a workshop for people interested in running for Council in Prince Edward County.  This workshop is open to all, free, and designed to provide an overview covering all aspects of what to expect while running for office.

Topics include:

  • legislation related to municipal, elections, key election terms, key elections dates;
  • responsibilities of a member of council, the head of council and staff;
  • summary of municipal powers and how they are exercised.
  • Municipal conflict of interest,
  • Code of Conduct and the role of Council’s Integrity Commissioner;
  • Former Member of Council’ insight and lessons learned.

The Workshop will be held in-person on March 31, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., at the Wellington and District Community Centre, Highline Hall.

Members of the public who wish to participate in the Workshop are encouraged to contact elections@pecounty.on.ca by noon on March 31, 2026 to register. Space is limited so please register soon.
